These books were revised, recorded, and adapted as read-alongs between 2022 and 2023 by the Innu Language Project (Memorial University) and the Algonquian Dictionaries and Language Resources Project (Carleton University), in collaboration with Mamu Tshishkutamashutau Innu Education (MTIE) and the Indigenous Languages Technology Project (National Research Council Canada). We encourage the use of these stories for educational purposes, but please do not reproduce them without permission.

The Innu Writing Workshop Books are original children’s books written and illustrated by teachers and classroom assistants during a series of Innu Language Project writing workshops held in Sheshatshiu and Natuashish, Labrador, in 2008-2010.

Workshops were funded by Mamu Tshishkutamashutau / Innu Education and the Innu Language Project (formerly called the CURA Project), Memorial University, Linguistics Department.

Workshops were directed by Donna-Lee Smith of McGill University, assisted by Dr. Marguerite MacKenzie and Laurel Anne Hasler of Memorial University.
